Enhance Your 'SimCity 4' Game With Fan-Created Regions
On this map you will find a very large modern city, the prototype for which was a high-tech settlement from a popular game Simcity. This is a nice adaptation of one game to another. In 'SimCity 4,' a city-building simulation game, you first create a region of land by terraforming and then zone your region as residential, commercial or industrial. During the game, you add zoning-appropriate features to the region and develop it.
If you prefer to jump right into gameplay or just want a change, you can download one of the fan-created regions that are available on the internet and use it with your 'SimCity4' game. Some consist of land only, while others are partially or fully developed.
How to Use a Fan-Created Region
Some regions or maps come with installation instructions in a readme file that is in the download. If you download a region without instructions, try this general install information:
- Download the region or map and unzip it if it is zipped. Usually, you'll see a JPEG and a bitmap file.
- Locate the My Documents/SimCity/Regions folder on your computer and copy the downloaded, unzipped files into the folder or create a folder inside the Regions folder with the same name as the new region and copy the files into that new folder.
- Open the 'SimCity4' game.
- To import a new region, press and hold down the following keyboard combination: Shift + Alt + Ctrl + R or go to your Region list and load the new region.
- You may need to select the JPEG in the new folder.

Maxisland Region
The Maxisland region is a fully developed metropolis with three medium-sized cities that are home to an art museum, casino, courthouse and 1.3 million sims. A single hydrogen plant powers all three cities. There is an agricultural area with farms and small towns in the North, and a bay in the South, where sims can take a cruise on a cruise ship or visit remote islands by ferry.
Maxisland is a good reference for people who are trying to build their own large regions and for people who want a fully developed new region to discover.

Rina's Ridiculous Rivers
Rina's Ridiculous Rivers region has water, water everywhere, but there are also rolling hills with pre-flattened terraces perfect for building. The map is basically a blank canvas, perfect for building your own community from scratch.

Male and Female Regions
You guessed it. The male and female region maps are based on the male and female gender symbols. The symbols themselves are formed of water and the rest of the maps are flat land. Use these regions to develop cities with masculine or feminine names or cities named after males or females you know.
Greetings to my fellow SimCity 4 fans!
Today I bring you the city of Santo Domingo, capital of the beautiful Dominican Republic. This city stands out as the oldest permanent European settlement in the Americas, having been founded as far back as 1496 and thus sporting the title 'Ciudad Primada de América' (First city of the Americas). Having a population of 2,581,000 inhabitants in the 2010 census and estimated to reach 3,658,000 inhabitants by 2015, it is by far the most populous city among the Caribbean islands, and the largest metropolis of the Dominican Republic. This city boasts an amazing historical center, with landmarks such as Fortaleza de Ozama (one of very few authentic Medieval castles in the New World), the Palacio Nacional, the official residence of its President, and the Jardín Botánico Nacional de Santo Domingo.
Together in this map I've also featured some of its notable suburbs, including the dirty industrial district of Bajos del Haina, its super modern Port of Caucedo, Boca Chica, Andrés, Los Frailes, Villa Faro and Pantoja.
This map measures 53.248km X 32.768km, corresponding to 13 X 8 large city districts, with the config optimized to fit these settlements, rivers and notable infrastructure components.
Players can render the map using either SC4 Terraformer, SC4 Mapper (with .SC4M file) or using the game commands with the grayscale and config files provided. Those who render the region from the grayscale map must use beskhu3epnm's High Elevation Import Mods w Erosion Control parameters, namely the 500m plugin with the desired erosion level (I'd recommend either the no erosion or the quarter erosion (QE) variant). Link provided below:
Recommended terrain mods for this map include the following:
* HD Sandy Beach Mod
* Rivit's Coastal Modd 2009: namely the green inshore and the ultramarine offshore
* Either the Grass Lands terrain mod or the HBS Californian terrain mod
* HBS Yucatán Tropical Tree mod or HBS Californian Mediterranean Tree mod
